first of all, i am beyond excited to begin my blog and share my stories with you. i have this crazy passion for skincare and makeup and all things beauty. i believe that good skincare can make everything better (well, almost). a good serum (like my ride or die TLC Framboos glycolic serum from Drunk Elephant) makes me so excited to come home and wash my face just so i can use it. doing my skincare every day brings me so much joy that i call it my self care. i believe that i deserve pampering myself after a long day at the office or having something that makes me excited to get out of bed and get ready, makes all the difference in my happiness. some days, i think i even enjoy rubbing a cleansing oil all over my face and eye makeup is more satisfying and fun than blending that shadow in to begin with!
my passion began long ago when i was a teenager, when i would spend countless hours reading web page after web page and watching video after video learning about skin and products. i would spend so much time at my local drugstore reading every product and trying to find "the perfect one", that the people there basically knew me by name. i had horrid skin. the kind that resulted in large, painful and deep bumps. and plenty of them. i had classic cystic acne, and it was everywhere. i had it down my neck, on my chest, back and upper arms. it was devastating. the acne took such a toll on me that i still think that all people can see are the bumps on my skin.
despite all my research, i was still struggling with getting it under control and finding any confidence in my looks. i have a whole story about how i got to where i am today, but i'll save that for another post. along with my countless time thinking about skincare, i dived deep into makeup. i was lucky my mother didn't allow me to use much until i was pretty much out of the house, but i never felt right if i didn't have some cover up, mascara and liner on. so then began my deep love for makeup and creating a flawless base and colourful eye looks and perfecting the classic black winged eyeliner.
so, in conclusion, my hobbies include rubbing serums and oils into my skin, basically stalking Sephora's store or website daily and scrolling for hours looking at pictures of skin products and videos of eyeshadow blending.
i hope you'll join me in my blogging journey and maybe learn a few things or find inspiration to start your own skincare or self care journey to glowing and happy skin. thank you for allowing me this platform as a way to take care of my mental health.
much love, xo
