Dr. Roebuck’s has some of the most beautiful packaging i have seen in the skincare world. each product is bright white and has minimal wording on the bottle with a gorgeous cursive to tell you what they have cleverly named their product. Dr. Roebuck’s is an Australian brand that has recently repackaged their products and caught my eye very quickly on social media. i raced to Shoppers Drug Mart quickly to check them out and walked home happily with two masks. fast forward to yesterday and i received three more products extremely generously gifted by a brand regional manager. keep reading below for my first “his and hers“ review!
my hilarious and oh so kind boyfriend let me experiment with his skincare and he offered to write his review! i’ll let you read his thoughts on dr. roebucks’ Byron, Lifesaver, True Blue and No Worries.
”you’ll have to forgive me. i know little about these bottles. However, my skin is definitely different than Erin’s the point where i do little and my skin is relatively okay and low maintenance - if that makes sense. i do struggle with oily skin towards the end of the workday. the scrub was nice. it has a peppermint smell which Erin described as “toothpaste-y” and i agree! it definitely started stinging after about three minutes or so. the mechanical scrubbers didn’t feel rough on the skin or too soft. i’ve had both and i prefer the rougher mechanical scrubbers. removing it from my face was pretty easy actually, just add water!
afterwards Erin used the toner, or tony as i call it. i started looking for an old camera to see if it still works and the skin dried out pretty good. the tony didn’t have a smell that i could remember and it definitely needs a moisturizer. the moisturizer was the lemon-grass one and it has more of a grass smell to it. at least that’s what i remember about grass. it’s been a while. Erin added some oil to it because Canada and i walk to-and-from work everyday and my skin really suffers. my skin about an hour later feels nice and hydrated. i do have a moustache and a bit of a neck scruff and chin hair so hydrating is important for me.
overall i think they did a good job with the products. perhaps the lemon-grass scent can be changed (key lime pie would be better. i’m a sweet scents-kind of guy) but i’m very comfy on the couch watching movies. i would definitely recommend the products to friends and family although i would wait for Erin to recommend appropriately. she’s the one that got me moisturizing with vitamin e after my constant complaining of my dry skin. read her review for actual smart words and i hope you enjoyed mine!”
now for my review!
i don’t think i’ve ever been as excited to come home and wash my face as i was yesterday. i was kindly gifted three beautiful products by Dr. Roebuck’s from Leanne (a regional manager for Dr. Roebuck’s) and got the chance to give them a try and post my thoughts!
i first started with my oil cleanse to remove a bit of makeup and then slathered on a thick layer of byron.
Byron is a 2 in 1 mask and face scrub that has jojoba beads, kaolin clay and the perfect amount of peppermint! i felt a good tingle when i first applied it but felt fine after the five minutes i had it on and as i washed it off my face felt so smooth from the mechanical exfoliation of the beads and felt so clean and fresh from the clay. i was worried the peppermint may irritate my skin but i was so happy it didn’t!
i then sprayed a generous amount of the lifesaver toner onto my skin and was surprised again that i had no irritation! i can’t even remember the last time i used a toner 😂 but i can definitely say this will be in my routine from now on. it’s a chemical exfoliation with glycolic acid to break up surface dead skin cells and has aloe and witch hazel which soothe and cleanse the skin of any left-over impurities. i love it! everything i could want from a toner is in one sleek bottle with a perfect sprayer.
i was so so excited to see i received true blue as i was reading review after review about it on the us Sephora website and it sounded like perfection. the texture was incredible. like a thick gel and it felt like a splash of water from the ocean 🌊. i’ve used their Icebergs hydrating mask and this serum felt exactly like an everyday version of it. it soaked in immediately and my skin felt comfortable and calm. it has peptides in it which i believe are good for plumping the skin ☺️
afterwards i finished off with a generous helping of my beloved no worries with about 4 drops of marula oil since i need the extra oil in this harsh Canadian winter.
i’m obsessed with this brand, since they are a clean beauty brand that have the ingredients i have loved before i found them in their formulations!
if you have been thinking about trying them out, please please do! i promise you’ll love them just like i have!
