the one.

everyone dreams of the one. they spend countless nights laying awake wondering if they will ever meet the one. people cry over the one they thought was the one but turned out to not really be the one so now they want to find the one. we go through extreme measures sometimes stalking the one who could be the one online. and when we do find the one, we now. the people who have found the one want to scream it from the rooftops and let the whole world know they have found the one. i am here to tell you, i have found the one. twice.
you might have clicked on this post thinking i was talking about a person, and while i have 100% found the right man, "the one", i am here to talk about a product. not just any product. it comes in a pretty white and magenta bottle with a twist top pump that cost me waaayyy too much money. i'm talking about Drunk Elephant's TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum.
this stuff is magic i say. i have been an acne sufferer, turned acne scar sufferer, turned texture queen and all back again to acne too many times to count. it would take me a few hours to type out all the treatments i have tried and remedies i thought would cure it. but sadly i won;t because nothing has worked until three months ago when i met TLC. i had heard nothing but incredible things about this little bottle of goodness for about a year i'd say and then one day i finally got the courage to just take a sample. i was too nervous to spend the amount of money it cost to have it just be another product that does nothing. so i tried it out that night and felt no stinging and jsut went to bed not thinking much of it. i woke up the next day and then that's when the love began. my skin felt 10x smoother. 10x softer. and the redness from my many many acne scars was so much pinker and less angry.
from then i've been hooked. it's been three months and i wake up each morning after i use it and find clearer more radiant skin! so i should probably mention why i chose to try this particular product out and why it could be doing such goodness for my skin. let me begin with some facts!
Drunk Elephant is a brand that has a philosophy that skincare tends to include six ingredients that are breakout and skin issue causing. these suspicious six as they call them, are things such as fragrance, silicones and alcohols. i was so intrigued by this that i decided to purchase many products from the line (yes my wallet cried a little) and wanted to see for myself if it was true. and it is! these ingredients in other skincare products i was using were hurting my skin! especially fragrance i found. so i carefully started looking into the products i was using and got rid of anything that was deemed "clean beauty". i even got myself some fragrance free foundation! so more about TLC Framboos is that it contains a blend of AHA's and BHA's. these acronyms are for alpha hydroxy acids and beta hydroxy acids. the AHA's include glycolic, lactic, linoleic and a few others while BHA is essentially salicylic acid. these acids work with your skin structure to do two things. AHA works on the surface to "unglue" the skin cells that are on top and are probably dead, sun damaged or scarred from acne, and get rid of them, or exfoliate them. BHA works in the little holes in the skin called pores to distrupt all the gunk that may be in there and get it out (exfoliate) from those deeper layers. this gunk includes your skins natural sebum (oil), dirt, makeup and pollution. these things just happen and sometimes they can get so clogged up that we get our acne bumps called whiteheads and blackheads and if we are unlucky enough, even cysts. i'll explain in another post about acne one day. so TLC Framboos contains both of these acids that get rid of the gunk on top and the gunk in the skin. sounds pretty cool right? it is! i didn't think it would work, but with continued use, my skin got used to the treatment and has stayed mostly clear! so along with these actives, the ingredients are natural sourced, well researched and well thought out to benefit the skin. i'm so happy i splurged and tried this out as i still can't believe i can run my fingers across my skin and feel smoothness. a feeling i haven't felt much of.
i hope my skincare ramblings didn't bore you too much! and if you are still searching for "the one", i hope you find him/her AND "it".
much love, xo
